God is watching over us...

A very dear friend sent this image to me in an e-mail, and added that this is apparently an unretouched photo. I'd love to track that down to verify, but it is a beautiful picture, nonetheless.

I am very grateful to God for His grace, mercy, and tremendous blessing over this country - we do not deserve it, and yet His kindness abounds to us all. It reminds me of Psalm 33:12 -

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

That's a very familiar verse to many Christians, but don't forget the whole of this incredible Psalm

Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous!
For praise from the upright is beautiful.
Praise the LORD with the harp;
Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

For the word of the LORD is right,
And all His work is done in truth. [that's "ALL His work" Not just part - everything!]

He loves righteousness and justice;
The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;
He lays up the deep in storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the LORD;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.

The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance
.

Everything on the earth, and in the heavens, and in the universe belongs to the Lord God Almighty. He created it all, and it is by His will and His power that everything continues to exist. It is God Who giudes the counsel of men, it is God Who renews our hearts, and those nations and people who follow His commands are the nations and people He blesses.

All we have, all American has, we owe to Him, and we should never forget that debt.

The LORD looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men.
From the place of His dwelling He looks
On all the inhabitants of the earth;
He fashions their hearts individually;
He considers all their works.

No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for safety;
Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.

Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,
To deliver their soul from death,
And to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.

Indeed, Father - let Your mercy be upon us, let Your hand rest on this nation and her people to turn our hearts wholly back to You! Let us live in Your love and in Your law in humbleness and compassion, and let us never shirk the duty You put before us. Let Your righteousness blossome in our spirits, that we may long to show Your loving, merciful face to all the world.

Reach down, I pray, to this sad, violent and dark world and give us Your Light that we may walk in Your will in peace and joy for all people. Sent Your Holy Spirit to revive those dead souls who do not know You - give them abundant life in Your beloved Son that they may have a joyful eternity and not be cast into the fires of Hell.

Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us! Lord, have mercy, for we have cast all our hopes on You! Let the richness of Your mercies be proclaimed throughout the land, and may Your Name be glorified forever and ever!

Amen!
